“One Too Many Snow Days” by Chris Zito

Hide and Seek. Go Fish. Candyland. Superheroes. Hot Wheels. Go Fish. Connect Four. Zingo. GO FISH!
Swear to God, next snow day, I don’t care what the studies say. I’m going to strap this kid to the TV and lock his eyes on it like Clockwork Orange.

Yes. The fourth hour of the Max and Ruby Marathon is just starting!

Vince is in Pre-K. His normal schedule is to attend school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Since coming back from Christmas vacation he’s missed five of those days. More than 1/3 of his school days have been Daddy, play with me days. This past Tuesday was a make up day, but-you guessed it-snow day.

News outlet in other parts of the world are leading the
Egyptian uprising, but here…

Keeping a five-year old entertained when going outside isn’t much of an option is beyond daunting. We’ve played dress up. We’ve played board games. We’ve played cards. We’ve played tag in the house. Ever play tag with two people? Sure it’s kills some time, but there’s no suspense.

“No wait, don’t tell me. Let me guess. I’m it?”

Today I’m going to start measuring rooms after Vince goes to school (fingers crossed!). Sure seems like the house is smaller than it was last fall.

Thanks for reading. Tell your pals.
